From Trainee to Vice President

For over 30 years, ESS-FOOD has transformed trainees into Directors and even Vice Presidents. Whether you're ambitious or looking for a stable career, there are plenty of opportunities for everyone. This is also why many of our very first trainees are still with us today. We thrive on sharing our knowledge with young, ambitious candidates through two specialised tracks:  

The Shipping Trainee Track

Choose the Shipping Trainee track if you love getting things moving with good planning and creative problem-solving. Your main task will be to ensure products move quickly and safely, including the handling of 14.000 containers all over the world, supported by experience colleagues worldwide. This track covers all relevant areas of the shipping business in two years, combined with the Business School's Shipping and Freight Forwarding track. 

The Sales Trainee Track

Choose the Sales Trainee track if you thrive on making great deals. You'll quickly take responsibility for a specific market, helping our business succeed and grow. This track focuses on buying and selling, which will expose you to different cultures, equipping you to excel in the trading industry, with additional education in sales.

Trading is not easy, and if you're afraid of hearing "no", this might not be the job for you. But if you're up for a challenge, love travelling, and eager to grow, ESS-FOOD is the place for you. Join us and be part of a dynamic and global team. 

Supportive Environment for Your Growth

Your success is our priority. We aim to develop the best trainees in the industry, providing full support and guidance. You'll have a manager overseeing your development, a supervisor guiding your daily projects, and a buddy helping you settle in and connect with colleagues. This program offers a safe learning environment with high ambitions, ensuring rapid development and increasing responsibility. 

Throughout the program, you'll attend regular trainings, seminars, and workshops with fellow trainees, enhancing your skills in teamwork, communication, negotiation, logistics, and business acumen.

Our applications for EFIT 2025 has been completed. 

International Business Trips and Working Abroad

Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Shanghai, and Dubai. These are just some of the global hot spots where our offices are located. On a typical day at the office, you'll interact with colleagues, partners, customers, and suppliers from around the world. This exposure will provide you with diverse perspectives and insights into the international trading industry - and the world at large.

But your experience won't be limited to the office. You'll embark on international business trips, gaining unique opportunities to experience different cultures and global business practices. Additionally, our sales trainees will have the chance to live and work abroad in one of our international offices.

What do you bring to the table? 

  • Education: Completed EUX Business, HHX, EUS, or a bachelor's degree (or near completion)

  • Experience: Relevant work experience, including leisure work, is appreciated. 

  • Languages: Excellent Danish and English skills; a third language is a plan.

  • Mindset: Business-minded, international, and enthusiastic. 

  • Attitude: Can-do attitude with a drive for results.

  • Skills: Strong stakeholder management and teamwork abilities to meet customers and supplier needs effectively. 

  • Personality: Open-minded with a strong winning mentality. 

ESS-FOOD INTERNATIONAL TRAINEE PROGRAMME

Join a young and ambitious team of trainees

You will never walk alone as an ESS-FOOD trainee. You will join a group of young trainees like yourself and you will support, help and challenge each other during the entire programme. You will go through the same process and work hard to learn many of the same things - but there will also be plenty of opportunity to socialise and have a good time together.
